Who painted the spooky Scooby-Doo background artwork in 1969
I've been watching episodes from the 1969 run of the cartoon "Scooby-Doo Where Are You!" I've been enjoying revisiting the series but the one thing that I've really been loving about it that I think I took for granted when I was younger was the amazing background artwork it has.
I found myself pausing the show when exterior scenes of the spooky place they were going to appeared.
I wanted to know who made these fantastic background paintings.
Who did the background artwork for scooby-doo
I decided to do some searching and find out who did these cartoon background paintings.
Turns out it was an artist named Walter Peregoy.
Walter Peregoy worked for Walt Disney Productions from 1951 - 1964 before moving over to Hanna-Barbera in 1968.

One of the things I found out is strangely Walter Peregoy received little publicity over his career but was acclaimed for his avant-garde style by other artists he was considered a true 1950s Modernist for his style.
Some of his Disney work was used in The Sword in the Stone (1963), Mary Poppins (1964), and The Jungle Book (1967)
At Hanna-Barbera, he headed the background department for five years.
He either styled or supervised the background designs of The Perils of Penelope Pitstop, Scooby-Doo Where Are You!, and Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines, among other series.
